FirstFour is assisting a Shipbuilding industry client with their need for a Mechanical Engineering Manager.

This key position will manage and support program and project goals for the department including preparation, design calculations and drawing development, and progressing all department work.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Marine or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent engineering degree (15 years of marine design experience considered instead of degree)
• Minimum 8 years of ship design / construction experience
• Thorough knowledge of ship and propulsion systems design/ operations, engine alignment and shaft design and alignment, HVAC design, and Maritime Regulatory Authorities
• Experienced in interacting with Production, multiple design teams from several companies, customer representatives and equipment manufacturers
• Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office products
• US Citizenship

Candidates who are experienced in modular construction methods, design and construction of US Navy vessels, and have knowledge of shock design, FEA methods, and Composite Shafting will be given top consideration.

This position offers a salary in the $120K – $140K range depending on experience, an excellent benefits package and relocation assistance.
