JOB DETAILS:


Our client is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join their team. This is a key management/technical position that serves customers in a highly regulated environment. The Company produces uniquely-designed hardened structures which are subject to various governmental regulations and various building codes, including state , local , and IBC building codes. Consideration of logistical factors for transportation, off loading and installation are required. All of these factors are to be considered for each customer project.


Direct the creation of electrical and mechanical design and drawings related to fabricated concrete products, including buildings and wall systems. Manage the internal electrical and mechanical designers.. Works with customers, and internal project managers, to ensure customer satisfaction, compliance with customer specifications, company standards and building codes. Works with production, purchasing and sales teams to enhance cost and operational efficiency and on-time delivery.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


Management of Electrical and Mechanical Designers

  • Directs the day-to-day efforts of the electrical and mechanical designers, including workload management and planning to meet customer demand.
  • Ensure that design files include copies of the customer P.O., sales work sheets, sales quote, and customer specifications and drawings.
  • Monitors the drawing process with the designers from the creation of the approval drawings through redline drawings, fabrication drawings and the as-built drawings.
  • Provide guidance in the design process when designers encounter differences in the sales quote versus the customer specification and drawings (or not consistent with company standards).
  • Direct the designers regarding the configuration of electrical systems and mechanical systems, as well as planning for the installation of major electrical equipment, including generators and backup power systems.
  • Ensure compliance with all state codes, local codes, IBC, and any other applicable codes.
  • Ensure consistency of the various drawings including customer specification, approval, fabrication, Revit and as-built.
  • Ensure that drawings are updated to “as-built” status.


Continual improvement of the electrical and mechanical design talent

  • Formalize a continuing training program for the electrical and mechanical design team and assist with and monitor daily processes to ensure an efficient workflow.
  • Complete personnel evaluations and identify areas for improvement for each team member not less than semi-annually.
  • Identify, manage, and report on critical success factors related to the design


Interaction with the Customers and the Sales, Production, Purchasing and Quality Assurance Teams

  • Interacts with the sales personnel, production personnel, purchasing personnel, quality assurance personnel, as well as customers, and engineering firms to develop drawings and establish drawing due dates.
  • Maintain a work environment that ensures delivery dates meet customer expectations.
  • Ensure that the electrical and mechanical drawings are consistent with customer specifications and consistent with company fabrication policies.


Coordination of State Approvals and Third-Party Inspections

  • Coordinates with structural designers/engineers and outside engineering firms to create the State approval drawing packages necessary to obtain State approval.
  • Assist the internal quality assurance team with hosting outside inspections (state inspections, third-party inspections, customers, etc.) and any resulting compliance matters.


QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:


  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • At least 5 years of experience as an Electrical Engineer. Experience with precast concrete products, including tilt-up structures, is a plus.
  • Familiarity with engineering software including AutoCAD, Revit, other 3D packages, as well as familiarity with MS Office and other commonly used technologies.
  • Familiarity with state, local and IBC building codes, with a focus on codes relating to concrete structures.
  • Experience in working effectively with customers and enhancing customer satisfaction.
  • Experience in working with independent engineers that provide professional engineering services.
  • Ability to work effectively with regulatory agencies to obtain required approvals
  • Excellent communication skills required.
  • Must be creative and a self-starter.
  • Highly motivated and able to work independently.
  • Strong planning and problem-solving skills required.
  • Must be organized and able to manage multiple projects, monitor performance metrics, and manage deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively with and manage personnel.
