We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Electromagnetic Design Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of innovative electric machine technologies. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in electric machine design, principles, and applications, coupled with a passion for innovation.
Responsibilities:
- Apply a solid understanding of electromagnetics, energy conversion, and electric machines, particularly with permanent magnets.
- Design and develop electric machines, including material selection, model building, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Conduct high power and high voltage (600V+) system testing.
- Utilize MATLAB/Simulink and similar programming environments for modeling and simulation.
- Calculate parameters and model losses in electric machines.
- Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and cosimulations using ANSYS Maxwell 2D/3D and Simplorer.
- Validate electric machine technologies through prototyping and laboratory testing.
- Characterize the efficiency of electric machines and optimize performance.
- Ensure compliance with converter duty and high voltage electrical insulation requirements.
- Adhere to industry standards and regulations (IEEE, IEC, UL).
- Develop and analyze electric machine thermal models and motor control systems.
- Lead and manage projects effectively, providing technical guidance and mentorship to team members.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering/Electromagnetics is required.
- 12+ years of combined experience in electromagnetic or electrical engineering
- Solid understanding of electromagnetics, energy conversion, and electric machines, particularly with permanent magnets.
- Skilled in designing and developing electric machines, including material selection, model building, and adherence to industry standards.
- Proficient in testing high power and high voltage systems (600V+).
- Experienced with MATLAB/Simulink and other similar programming environments.
- Adept at calculating parameters and modeling losses in electric machines.
- Hands-on expertise with Finite Element Methods and cosimulations, using tools like ANSYS Maxwell 2D/3D and Simplorer.
- Proven track record in validating electric machine technologies through prototyping and lab testing.
- Specialized in characterizing the efficiency of electric machines.
- Knowledgeable in converter duty and high voltage electrical insulation for electric machine applications.
