SUMMARY
The Proposal Engineer works under the guidance of the Proposal Supervisor. The Proposal Engineer is expected to understand the assembly process, develop tooling methodologies, automated solutions, transfer technology, systems integration, and the associated CAD models (AutoCAD / Catia/ NX / Team Center / Word / Excel) for the system. Additionally, the Proposal Engineer is responsible for understanding and executing the technical solution based on customer RFQ.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Interact with the Proposal Engineer Supervisor to understand the customer’s project scope and work toward a comprehensive and effective technical solution.
- Work in roles of increasing responsibility while developing skills through experience and training.
- Ability to develop, evaluate, and compare technical studies.
- Develop and complete proposal documents, including process deck, layout letter, tool content.
- Demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team oriented environment while handling multiple assignments.
- Line up estimating and ensure that estimating understands the complete project content (tooling, mechanical, automation).
- Understand and assist in developing a comprehensive working concept integrating manufacturing process and sequence, applicable tooling, automation concept and integration.
- Work with supplier partners.
- Understand project execution plan and equipment content.
- Understand joining methods.
- Strong background in tool design & process.
- Perform cycle / takt time analysis/ method analysis.
- Coordinate with thru-put simulation group for studies when applicable.
- Request quotations for purchased items from supplier partners.
- Interact with customer technical personnel and ME’s through the proposal process (reviews, questions/clarifications from customer and KUKA proposal team, final presentation, etc.).
- Understand and follow safety & environmental regulations and identifies safety/environmental concerns.
- Adhere to the Quality System and participate in continuous improvement.
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
