This is an exceptional opportunity to join a mission-focused organization as the VP of Engineering. In this role, you will lead the Engineering Department and play a critical part in advancing technologies to market. Reporting to the Chief Product Officer, the VP of Engineering will oversee the development, scaling, and deployment of state-of-the-art energy technologies. This leadership role includes technical program performance, team management, resource allocation, and stakeholder engagement.
Responsibilities
- Drive engineering and design initiatives to deliver on existing orders and scale manufacturing capabilities.
- Act as the Design Authority or delegate this responsibility for all design projects.
- Build and lead a multidisciplinary Engineering Team, including specialists in mechanical analysis and design, fuel design, radiochemistry, process engineering, and nuclear engineering.
- Collaborate with project managers to achieve technical and business goals on current programs.
- Champion the development of innovative nuclear technologies and concepts while pursuing funding for R&D activities.
- Lead or support technical proposals in response to new business opportunities.
- Cultivate strong relationships with key customer stakeholders.
- Establish and refine engineering procedures, quality assurance policies, and team requirements.
- Manage technical work estimates, schedules, and deliverables while ensuring progress meets expectations.
- Address technical and programmatic challenges, maintaining a focus on successful outcomes.
- Provide regular updates to the executive team on technical execution and team performance.
Qualifications and Skills
- B.S. or higher in an engineering discipline from an accredited university, with over 12 years of relevant experience and at least 7 years in engineering leadership roles.
- Extensive expertise in engineering principles, project management, and team leadership.
- Experience in nuclear design or space product design is strongly preferred.
- Comprehensive understanding of first-of-a-kind design life cycles, regulatory considerations, and analysis methodologies.
- Broad knowledge of engineering disciplines, including mechanical, thermal, structural, systems, nuclear, and chemistry.
- Proven ability to lead technical teams and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Comfortable working in high-pressure, uncertain environments with tight deadlines.
