Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated PostgreSQL Database Developer to join our team. This role offers the opportunity to lead the transition from a SQL Server environment to PostgreSQL, becoming the in-house Subject Matter Expert (SME) for PostgreSQL. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in database development, cloud-based technologies, and data integration processes, along with a proactive and communicative work style.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the PostgreSQL SME, leading the team’s transition and knowledge-building for PostgreSQL adoption.
• Set up and maintain the PostgreSQL environment, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
• Migrate and adapt existing SQL Server code and scripts to PostgreSQL.
• Design, develop, and maintain efficient, high-performing database systems and SQL code.
• Support data manipulation and migration tasks using Python or similar programming languages.
• Optimize database performance and ensure data integrity and security.
• Build and improve data integration processes between on-premise and cloud data stores.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and provide innovative solutions.
• Provide technical documentation and clear communication to both technical peers and management.
• Offer off-hours production support on a rotational basis as needed.
• Support the team's utilization of Snowflake, contributing knowledge to enhance the platform's integration and efficiency.

Must-Have Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a Database Developer.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience as a PostgreSQL SME.
• Strong proficiency in SQL development (5+ years).
• Experience with Python for database tasks and data migration.
• Familiarity with SQL Server, including the ability to adapt SQL Server scripts to PostgreSQL.
• Excellent technical documentation and communication skills.
• Proactive, motivated, and effective in a collaborative team environment.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

• Experience with cloud environments (AWS preferred) for strategic planning.
• Familiarity with Snowflake cloud-based data warehouse.
• Financial industry background or experience.
• Knowledge of additional programming languages like C#.
