Principal Structural Engineer


Location: Huntsville, AL (Telework available; must reside within 50 miles of Huntsville, AL)

Travel: Up to 25%, CONUS and OCONUS


Are you a seasoned structural engineer ready to tackle challenging projects that make a real difference? We're looking for a Principal Structural Engineer to join our team and contribute to impactful military construction (MILCON) and sustainment, restoration, and modernization (SRM) projects. If you have extensive expertise in structural engineering and are passionate about supporting mission-critical initiatives, we want to hear from you.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, design, execute, and document MILCON and SRM projects.
  • Review designs, calculations, and procurement documents with precision.
  • Develop project scopes, evaluate technical proposals, and manage execution schedules.
  • Provide construction surveillance and technical guidance to CAD designers and engineers.
  • Draft and contribute to technical reports, project briefings, and documentation.
  • Coordinate facilities engineering tasks with government customers, host installations, and A&E firms.
  • Ensure compliance with Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) and other engineering standards.


Required Qualifications:

  • Active Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain one.
  • ME/MS degree in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited university. (A Professional Engineer (PE) license may substitute for the degree.)
  • At least 13 years of relevant experience in structural and facilities engineering.


Expertise in:

  • Design and analysis of complex structural systems.
  • Facilities requirements development, design, construction, and configuration management.
  • High availability load balancing solutions, structural integrity assessments, and environmental impact studies.


Strong knowledge of:

  • Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) such as UFC 3-301-01 and UFC 3-301-02.
  • Microsoft Office Suite and engineering tools for project documentation and reporting.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (up to 25%).


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Familiarity with USACE/NAVFAC/DPW construction project execution, including RFIs, shop drawings, and submittal reviews.
