Truck Driver responsible for loading, driving, and unloading trucks within the Washington D.C. metropolitan area (WMA). Must hold as a minimum a Class B driver's license and be capable of operating a range of vehicles to include box trucks, forklifts, and other material handling equipment. Work consists of driving trucks and other vehicles to established safety standards; loading/unloading cargo (much of which is nonstandard and may include hazardous materials); and making personal deliveries to customers in office settings. Works independently, under general supervision of a first-line contractor supervisor; they may work in tandem with a more senior truck driver when making deliveries in the WMA.nnDuties/Tasks and Responsibilities Prepares for trip:nnReceives trip assignment and manifest from section chief.nnPerforms safety inspection of vehicle and note any needed repairs on Vehicle Condition Report.nnPerforms routine vehicle checks and tops off oil, antifreeze, and windshield fluids as required, as well as adjusting tire pressure.nnAssists with truck loading as necessary, ensuring that material is loaded in accordance with weight distribution guidelines and limitations.nnRecords travel data in driver's log.nnDrives truck to designated local delivery point(s); may be accompanied by a more senior truck driver.nnWhile driving, employs surveillance detection techniques to include using alternate, circuitous routes.nnAssists in identifying items requiring special handling at delivery point.nnAs necessary, unloads truck and delivers material to specific customers in office settings using a variety of material handling equipment; professionally represents Logistics by providing solid customer service.nnPicks up material for return delivery to the warehouse facility Reloads truck and returns to designated location.nnAssists crew, as necessary, with loading backhaul cargo, ensuring that material is loaded in accordance with weight distribution guidelines and limitations.nnConfirms that material loaded onto truck corresponds with return trip manifest. o Records travel data in drivers log.nnPerform ad hoc warehouseman duties such as loading/unloading trucks and moving materials between designated staging locations.nnKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesnnPosition Requires TS/SCI Security clearance with PolygraphnnAbility to obtain a basic knowledge of Sponsor-unique policies and regulations that pertain to the secure transportation of materials.nnBasic knowledge of DOT regulations on transportation of hazardous materials.nnBasic knowledge of loading dock safety procedures and requirements.
