Position Purpose:
Our delivery drivers play a crucial role in maintaining the nation's food supply chain. As a face of our company, you will ensure that products reach customers safely and on time while building lasting relationships with them.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Professionally communicate and interact with customers, vendors, and co-workers, ensuring accurate and timely responses to inquiries.
- Collaborate as a team member within your department and the organization to fulfill various roles necessary for the company’s success.
- Conduct required safety checks (pre/post trip) and inspect your vehicle and trailer to ensure they comply with DOT regulations and company safety standards.
- Report any safety issues or needed repairs promptly.
- Follow all DOT regulations and company policies regarding safe driving.
- Notify your supervisor of any safety hazards and ensure that the trailer is loaded securely.
- Perform inventory counts and verify customer invoices for accuracy.
- Maintain accurate and legible records associated with freight.
- Drive to customers according to a planned route and deliver orders based on a predetermined schedule.
- Unload products and transport them to designated customer locations.
- Conduct damage control checks on items and liaise with supervisors regarding any removals per company policies.
- Verify deliveries with customers and obtain necessary signatures.
- Collect payments where required and secure the trailer after loading customer returns.
- Ensure that your vehicle, trailer, and freight are securely locked at all times.
- Unload damaged goods and customer returns, completing necessary paperwork as required.
- Maintain daily logs of hours of service as mandated by Federal DOT, state, and company regulations.
- Keep the tractor, loading dock area, and trailers in a clean and orderly condition.
- At the end of your shift, secure all equipment and finalize necessary paperwork.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- 12 months of commercial driving experience.
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent.
- Valid CDL A license.
- Must meet all state licensing and certification requirements.
- Aged 21 years or older.
- Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past three years.
- Pass a post-offer drug test and criminal background check.
- Successfully complete a road test.
- Hold a valid DOT Health Card or be able to obtain one.
- Able to hand-lift and utilize equipment for moving product cases weighing between 10-90 pounds during shifts.
