The position will report to our office in Herndon, VA. WSP is promoting a hybrid work model and staff are expected to work 3 days/week in the office.nnTakes part in providing local technical assistance for capturing, modeling, and analyzing geographical and tabular data to illustrate and determine spatial relationships as it pertains to client projects. Assignments may include supporting technical staff with spatial mapping, discovering patterns and trends, and developing mapping applications and tools at the intersection of data analysis, programming, and cartography. Generates accurate and concise documentation, ensuring that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards.nnYour ImpactnnPerform GIS database development, qualitative/quantitative analysis, and mapping as a member of a local and regional water resources team (primarily flood risk analysis and mapping)nnCompile, manipulate, and refine geographic data from a variety of sources including hydraulic models, field collection, satellite/aerial imagery, public domain data, and existing mapsnnProduce detailed, high-quality cartographic products (digital and hardcopy) and accompanying reports in accordance with technical guidelines and client needsnnPerform regular quality control checks of spatial and non-spatial datasets to ensure data integritynnCollaborate with team members on project tasks related to GIS, database design and management, and data visualizationnnCustomize GIS workflow and software programs for data collection, engineering, and environmental applicationsnnExercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.nnPerform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.nnWho You ArennRequired QualificationsnnBachelor’s Degree in Geographic Information Systems, Geography, or closely related discipline.nn0 to 1 years of relevant post education experience.nnProficiency using ESRI ArcGIS software.nnProficiency using Microsoft Office.nnExperience in producing high-quality digital and hardcopy maps and project graphics.nnStrong written and verbal communication skills.nnProficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.nnAbility to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.nnBasic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.nnProven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.nnAbility to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.nnOccasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.nnPreferred Qualifications:nnExperience with FEMA’s Risk MAP and National Flood Insurance Program.nnExperience with hazard mitigation.nnCustomization of GIS software using Python.nnExperience with AGOL, data visualization, and raster manipulation.nn#LI-AB2nnAbout WSPnnWSP USA is the U.S. operating company of WSP, one of the world's leading engineering and professional services firms.
