This includes working with Independent Hardware Vendors (IHV), Microcontroller suppliers, and industry partners on topics related to system design and firmware implementation. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.nnIn alignment with our Microsoft values, we are committed to cultivating an inclusive work environment for all employees to positively impact our culture every day.nnResponsibilitiesnnDesign, implement, test and support systems-level firmware on modern Windows-based devices and accessories.nnDrive performance, stability and feature enhancements for the device level experiences aligned with Windows and Devices roadmaps.nnCollaborate with teams across Microsoft and the Windows Ecosystem to bring up new hardware designs.nnEmbody our Culture ( and Values ( QualificationsnnBachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, or RustnnOR equivalent experience.nn4+ years of experience in firmware product development.nn4+ years experience with hardware enablement and firmware debuggingnnAdditional or Preferred QualificationsnnBachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, or Rust.nnOR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including but not limited to, C, C++, or Rust.nnOR equivalent experience.nnExperience with the Rust programming language and associated design patterns.nnFamiliarity with embedded Rust development and writing firmware for MCU-based designs.nnAn understanding of cryptographic algorithms, security protocols, and encryption techniques.nnA deep understanding of software lifecycle in a device development environment and the interplay between software and hardware development and schedules.nnSoftware Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.nnCertain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
