Project Overview:
Bechtel is designing, constructing, and commissioning the world's largest radioactive waste treatment plant for the U.S. Department of Energy at the Hanford Site in southeastern Washington State. The Hanford Tank Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant will use vitrification technology to process and solidify 56 million gallons (210 million liters) of radioactive and chemical waste stored at the Hanford site, which is a byproduct of plutonium production during World War II and the Cold War era. The project is the largest undertaking of its kind and one of DOE's most technically challenging cleanup projects. Its construction spans 65 acres (26 hectares) with four major nuclear facilities - Pretreatment, Low-Activity Waste Vitrification, High-Level Waste Vitrification and Analytical Laboratory - as well as operations and maintenance buildings, utilities, other support facilities.
Job Summary:
Assigned to the High-Level Waste (HLW) Construction organization. Responsible for supporting the Field Engineering organization by maintaining various documentation needs, assisting in the preparation of work packages, and maintaining the installation status of components as needed within project databases. May be responsible for inspections within a specialty area and for the preparation of take offs, punch lists, and sketches. #LI-CL1
Major Responsibilities:
Create various reports which may include querying multiple datasets and compiling results in a presentable format.
Work closely with Field Engineering, Superintendents, and Craft professionals to ensure a quality product is delivered.
Assist Construction Automation Team with various tasks that may include; reports, data updates, creation of work packages using BookBuilder, running construction record reports, etc.
Track inspection documents through review and closure process.
Review and maintain documentation and various database entries for accuracy and consistency.
Run various office equipment; included but not limited to, copier and label makers for certain disciplines.
Build reports to present to management.
Provide support to project controls and construction management in data gathering to build reports.
Build and maintain websites for HLW construction.
Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities
Education and Experience Requirements:
University Hire with less than 1 year of experience or 4-5 years of relevant work experience.
Possess the right to work and remain in the US without sponsorship.
Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical, and background check which includes verification of employment and education.
Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site.
Be physically able to conduct field inspections and participate in project walk-downs which may require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, using fall protection and other personal protective equipment (PPE), walking on elevated platforms, walking on uneven surfaces, and maneuvering around very small and/or confined spaces.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge of basic construction principles.
Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications.
Advanced knowledge of Access, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Ability to work independently and be proactive.
Possess a high degree of individual initiative, flexibility, diplomacy, and accuracy.
Ability to work with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
Possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
Ability to learn new processes, procedures, and software.
Ability to perform multiple tasks and easily adjust priorities.
