Assignments may include supporting technical staff with spatial mapping, discovering patterns and trends, and developing mapping applications and tools at the intersection of data analysis, programming, and cartography. Generates accurate and concise documentation, ensuring that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards.nnYour ImpactnnPerform GIS database development, qualitative/quantitative analysis, and mapping as a member of water resources (including floodplain mapping) and environmental services project teams.nnManage individual project tasks related to GIS, database design and management, and data visualization.nnCustomize GIS workflow and software programs for data collection, engineering, and environmental applications.nnAssist with performing GIS surveys and reports from field sites for project research and investigation.nnMaintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate and precise measurements, compiling documentation, and analysis of incoming and existent data.nnModel and prepare topographic maps, graphs, and tabular data using GPS, aerial photographs, and other tools and data to determine exact locations of project areas, site impact, and associated physical and geographic sensitivities.nnPerform basic professional GIS work relating to conducting investigations, inspections, studies, and surveys to gain further information relating to digital mapping, merging topographical data with external data, identifying the characteristics and conditions of a site, and determining the authenticity of spatial data.nnContribute to the preparation of technical reports summarizing research with findings and conclusions, generating complete, accurate, and concise documentation using electronic systems, field/work site notes, and software.nnAssist with researching and illustrating the geography of project sites, as well as assisting with public exhibits relating to projects.nnAssist technical staff and project managers by offering input and analysis with low-level threat mitigation activities, master planning, and permitting activities.nnWork with cross-functional teams, CADD, and other technicians in executing project work.nnComplete training on assigned tasks.nnExercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.nnPerform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.nnPlease note that there is no relocation assistance associated with this position.nnWho You ArennRequired QualificationsnnBachelor’s Degree in GIS, Environmental Science, Environmental Planning, or a related field.nn0 to 1 years of relevant post-education experience in discipline with prior GIS experience.nnCompetent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a scientific and non-scientific audience.nnCompetent self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.nnAbility to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.nnAbility to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.nnExperience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.nnStrong technical writing, analytical and communication skills.nnDetail-oriented with an emphasis on quality work products.nnThe selected candidate must have the ability to work in the United States immediately.nnProven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.nnPreferred Qualifications:nnA member of and/or actively participate in local professional practice organizations.nnPrior internship experience, leadership experience, or relevant coursework.nnExperience with ESRI’s ArcGIS platform.nnExperience with GIS field equipment, plotting coordinates, and data collection.nnBasic proficiency with business writing, office automation and communication software, web mapping applications and tools.nnWSP Benefits:nnWSP provides a comprehensive suite of benefits focused on a providing health and financial stability throughout the employee’s career.
