Pride Health is hiring a Medical Lab Scientist to support our client’s medical facility based in Pittsburgh PA 15220. This is a 6+ Month with the possibility of a contract-to-hire opportunity and a great way to start working with a top-tier healthcare organization!



Job Title: Medical Lab Scientist

Location: Pittsburgh PA 15220

Schedule: EVENING SHIFT 2:00PM - 10:30PM

Duration: 6 months+

Pay rate: $30 per hour


*The salary is determined by an individual's level of experience, as well as any relevant licenses and certifications they may hold.


**Ideal candidate has Grossing Technician experience.

Primary responsibilities for this position include pipetting clinical specimens, manual specimen processing (smear / stain, lyse, label) bench work, and running specimens on BD FACS Canto II flow cytometer.


Job Description:


We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Clinical Laboratory Technologist to join our team. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the accurate processing and testing of clinical specimens, while adhering to laboratory procedures and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have experience in high complexity testing and will work closely with a team of professionals to maintain and improve laboratory operations.


Key Responsibilities:


Follow established laboratory procedures for specimen handling, processing, testing, and reporting patient results.

Maintain accurate records demonstrating proficiency testing and quality control activities.

Analyze clinical specimens using approved testing procedures as outlined in department SOPs.

Review and release test results in compliance with laboratory standards.

Adhere to CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and all safety regulations as required.

Perform quality control and calibration activities, ensuring compliance with laboratory standards.

Address any performance issues promptly and implement corrective actions when necessary.

Report critical results to clients according to department procedures.

Provide support and answer questions from clients or laboratory personnel.

Maintain the cleanliness and general appearance of the laboratory.

Ensure reagents/test kits are properly labeled with dates, expiration, and opened dates.

Participate in training, educational meetings, and safety sessions as required.

Assist with government or regulatory agency inspections as needed.

Perform other duties as directed by your supervisor.

Required Knowledge & Skills:


Solid understanding of basic laboratory testing procedures.

Strong computer skills with the ability to adapt to multiple laboratory computer systems.

Knowledge of quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) practices.

Ability to work efficiently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Excellent communication and customer service skills when interacting with clients or other departments.

Ability to maintain patient confidentiality at all times.

Education & Experience:


Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology (preferred) or related field (Chemistry, Biology), or Associate’s Degree in a Laboratory Science/Medical Technology.

For foreign-educated candidates, a credential evaluation from IERF (International Education Research Foundation) is required.

Minimum of 1 year clinical laboratory experience in high-complexity testing is preferred, or a Bachelor's in Chemistry/Biology with experience in clinical laboratory settings.

National certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) is preferred (e.g., ASCP, AMT).

Experience as a Grossing Technician is a plus.

Additional Job Details:


Primary duties include pipetting clinical specimens, specimen processing (smear, stain, lyse, label), and working with a BD FACSCanto II flow cytometer. Data analysis is not included in this role.

The ideal candidate will have prior experience as a Grossing Technician.
