What will you be doing:

• The Physician Assistant (PA-C) is responsible for working under the direct supervision of their Supervising Physician, the PA shall provide pre-op and post-op assessments of patients, provide and/or assist in follow-up care, and, in the Operating Room.
• Supervise care for the patients in the Cardiac Surgery ICU ranging from CABG and valve replacement/repairs to implantable VADs, Heart and Lung transplants, ECMO, aortic dissections, and aneurysm repairs
• Perform bedside procedures within the scope of service, write progress notes, participate in daily rounds, write orders, dictate discharge notes, and participate in hospital wide quality improvement initiatives
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to ensure continuity of care.

Experience Requirements:

• One (1) plus years of experience as Physician Assistant (PA-C), preferably in cardiothoracic surgery preferred.
• Two (2) plus years of experience managing cardiothoracic surgery patients or cardiac patients preferred.
• ICU experience required.
• Working knowledge of managing device patients preferred.

Educational/Licensure/Certifications Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant Program
• CA Physician Assistant License
• National Commission Certification of PAs (NCCPA)
• Current DEA license and Furnishing Number or eligibility to obtain
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS/ALS) certification
