What will you be doing:
- The Physician Assistant (PA-C) is responsible for working under the direct supervision of their Supervising Physician, the PA shall provide pre-op and post-op assessments of patients, provide and/or assist in follow-up care, and, in the Operating Room.
- Supervise care for the patients in the Cardiac Surgery ICU ranging from CABG and valve replacement/repairs to implantable VADs, Heart and Lung transplants, ECMO, aortic dissections, and aneurysm repairs
- Perform bedside procedures within the scope of service, write progress notes, participate in daily rounds, write orders, dictate discharge notes, and participate in hospital wide quality improvement initiatives
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to ensure continuity of care.
Experience Requirements:
- One (1) plus years of experience as Physician Assistant (PA-C), preferably in cardiothoracic surgery preferred.
- Two (2) plus years of experience managing cardiothoracic surgery patients or cardiac patients preferred.
- ICU experience required.
- Working knowledge of managing device patients preferred.
Educational/Licensure/Certifications Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant Program
- CA Physician Assistant License
- National Commission Certification of PAs (NCCPA)
- Current DEA license and Furnishing Number or eligibility to obtain
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS/ALS) certification
