Bastia is a Sardinian and Corsican restaurant in the Fishtown neighborhood of Philadelphia. We are located in the beautiful Hotel Anna & Bel, which is a 50-room hotel in the historic former Penn Home. Both the hotel and restaurant opened in August, 2024. We butcher whole animals, make bread in-house, have an extensive handmade pasta program, and maintain close relationships with farmers in the region.
The restaurant has opened to wide acclaim, including the highest 4-star rating from Jason Sheehan of Philadelphia Magazine, and has been featured in the Wall Street Journal among other national publications.

The Role
The Host/Hostess is responsible for delivering excellence in guest service by developing relationships with guests, providing personalized service, anticipating and delivering guests’ needs, supporting leadership and ensuring guest reservations are honored, walk-ins sat whenever possible, hotel guests and VIPs sat. Ensure service standards are complied with and that all guest needs are taken care of with clear, genuine communication and flawless execution.
Responsibilities
- Provide excellent, friendly, and professional service to internal and external guests in all interactions.
- Uphold and promote the hotel culture throughout the business.
- Ensure cleanliness and safety of work area, following opening and closing procedures.
- Manage bar tabs, table transfers, and uphold cash/credit handling procedures.
- Up-sell food and beverage menu items.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of alcoholic beverages and maintain awareness of menu items.
- Check identification for age verification when necessary.
- Communicate effectively with restaurant management and team members.
- Maintain knowledge of dining room layout, reservation procedures, house count, and department policies.
- Attend to guest needs, handle complaints professionally, and maintain confidentiality while promoting positive guest relations.
