RESPONSIBILITIESnnJOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:nn• Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager or designee, performs assigned surgical “scrub” duties and maintains sterile techniques for all surgical procedures.nn• Prepares the patient, operating room, equipment, and instruments for surgery, maintaining aseptic techniques in accordance with nursing practice and standards of care.nn• May be responsible for the assessment, treatment, or care of patients of all ages. Must be competent in the interpretations of the patient’s self-report or behavior and the information must be interpreted with an understanding of the cognitive, physical, emotional, & chronological maturtion process. Treatment should be individualized & reflect an understanding of the developmental needs & range of treatment for each patient.nnTYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:nn• Essential: standing, walking, stooping/bending, twisting body, finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking, lifting usual amount of 35 lbs up to 50 lbs, pushing/pulling usual amount of 50 pounds of force, carrying usual amount of 35 lbs, reaching above/at/below shoulder, repetitive arm/hand motions, static/frequent gripping of an object for prolonged periods.nn• Operates computer, copier, printer, fax machine, multi-line telephone, and various surgical equipment, instrumentation and supplies.nnTYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:nn• Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.nn• Exposed to chemicals, body fluids, communicable diseases.nn• Required Personal Protective Equipment: Eye protection, gown, mask, mask with face shield, non-sterile/sterile medical gloves, CAPR.nnMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:nnEDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:nn• Completion of a certified Surgical Technologist, Operating Room Technician or comparable training program; or three (3) years experience as an OR Technician or Surgical Technologist in an acute care or outpatient setting.nn• Association of Surgical Technologists Certification preferred.nn• Current BLS/HCP CPR certification.nnEXPERIENCE:nn• Experience to demonstrate:nno Strong organizational and self-motivational skills.nno Ability to deal with patients/visitors tactfully and courteously.nno Ability to work and maintain composure under constantly changing situations with numerous interruptions.nnEqual Opportunity Employer/Disability/Vet
