Current Texas Advanced Practice Registered Nurse licensure. Successful completion of Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Program. Board-Certified Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP-BC)

Job Description:
Provides advanced practice health care services to high-risk newborns and infants who need intensive medical attention due to low birth weights, prematurity, infections, congenital anomalies, or other health conditions; as well as documentation of services, collaborates with colleagues and clinical director, supervises assigned support staff, participates in quality assurance activities, and demonstrates a commitment to quality health care.

Job Duties:
n
n- Works independently to full scope of practice in compliance with the Texas Nurse Practice Act with acknowledgement of off-site collaborating physician availability for consultation and collaboration.
n- Performs individualized history and physical examinations for diverse populations inclusive of social determinants of health.
n- Orders and interprets diagnostic testing in accordance with relevant health concerns of the patient.
n- Develops a comprehensive plan of care that encompasses evidence-based practice guidelines, practice protocols, Medicare, Medicaid, and other state and federal regulations.
n- Prescribes appropriate pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments.
n- Provides appropriate education for current health diagnoses as well as anticipatory guidance for health promotion and disease prevention applicable to the individual’s health and socioeconomic status.
n- Monitors plan of care for cost-effectiveness and the achievement of expected improvements, while openly seeking feedback from patients, significant others, colleagues, allied health, appropriate referrals, and collaborating physician to enhance quality outcomes.
n- Facilitates patient transition within and between health care services to ensure accurate communication among the health care team.
n- Documents in a timely manner to ensure all services are accurately accounted for and available for review by the interdisciplinary team.

Preferred Qualifications:
n
n- One year of experience in Level III/IV NICU
n- Delivery room resuscitation and stabilization experience
n- 2+ years in a clinical leadership position
