We are seeking a dedicated Trust Accounting Clerk to join our team. This role is instrumental in managing our firm's financial activities, including trust transactions, accounts receivable and payable, bank reconciliations, and general accounting duties. The ideal candidate will bring a keen eye for detail, exceptional organizational skills, and a strong background in accounting practices.


What you will be doing:

  • Handle trust transactions including deposits, cheques, and transfers.
  • Manage Accounts Receivable tasks such as billings, general deposits, and write-offs.
  • Oversee Accounts Payable activities including processing payments for lawyer and firm expenses, posting invoices, and reconciling vendor statements.
  • Conduct bank reconciliations for general, trust, and invested trust funds.
  • Generate and print financial reports; prepare journal entries for month-end adjustments.
  • Ensure accurate filing of financial documents.


Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Accounting or a related field
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in accounting roles, with experience in professional services highly valued.
  • Exceptional time management skills, with the ability to manage tight deadlines and work effectively under pressure.
  • High attention to detail, prioritizing accuracy and strong follow-up skills.
  • Capable of working both in a team environment and independently as needed.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Experience with Prolaw is considered an asset.
