The Wealth Council is recruiting for our growing team in Calgary, AB. A high level of attention to detail, and the desire to develop professionally and personally in a dynamic work environment is expected.
The successful candidate will support the financial planning division by providing professional, efficient creation and updating of financial plans and supporting the firm’s fintech programs and initiatives in accordance with the firm’s procedures and regulatory standards in the insurance and investment industry. He or she will manage the process of client information and assume various operational support duties related to the team’s activities.
Responsibilities:
- Supporting our team to provide financial planning and strategic wealth management services to affluent clients and family businesses;
- Preparing and reviewing investment portfolio reviews, researching tax and financial planning issues;
- Performing insurance needs analysis and modeling outcomes through Microsoft excel and other financial planning software tools;
- Read, review and discern important information from financial, investments and insurance statements for integration into client account record;
- Service clients’ and partners’ general day-to-day portal requests and collaborate with team members to deliver;
- Check data from various information sources to ensure their compliance, in accordance with established policies and standards;
- Carry out data entry in the customer relationship management system, including producing various documents and reports for clients and advisor(s);
- Schedule appointments, meeting preparation and follow-up;
- Assist in the annual review preparation and process;
- Ensure the integrity of data is intact between systems;
- Summarize analysis and recommendation on the financial, estate and tax planning;
- Participate in developing policies, procedures, and financial/investment models for the team;
- Actively engaging in ongoing learning and development to continuously improve skills and knowledge; and
- Other ad-hoc reporting and requests from team members on an as-needed basis.
Competencies:
Financial Experience
- In-depth knowledge of financial planning, including accounting, finance, estate planning, insurance, investments, pensions, debt management, tax & financial planning;
- In-depth knowledge of financial investment, including investment models, investment vehicles and third-party investment policy statements, to assess risk and volatility for client assets and identify solutions appropriate for clients' unique circumstances;
- In-depth knowledge of risk assessment and risk management principles to make; recommendations on complex client financial issues; and
- Ability to assess client requirements and financial statements to determine client needs.

- Comfortable working with large data of numbers and possess an analytical mindset;
- Analytical skills and the ability to understand, interpret, and report technical information;
- Interpret financial, legal and pension documents and make appropriate recommendations;
- Possess planning, organizational and decision-making skills to plan, prioritize and develop; strategic financial/tax plans and decisions affecting clients' portfolios;
- Strong problem-solving skills to analyze and synthesize clients’ financial and personal information to create client profiles; and
- Possess critical thinking skills to determine the financial planning options best suited to the client's situation.

Qualifications:
- 5 years relevant experience;
- Financial Planning Designation (PFP) or Certified Financial Planner (CFP);
- An undergraduate degree in Business or Economics;
- High level of competency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Powerpoint;
- Experience with Financial Planning Software;
- Computer proficiency, perform research, and complete financial requests and investment proposals (e.g., spreadsheet, tax and word processing software, accounting and client management systems/databases, financial calculators); and
- Familiarity in customer relationship databases (with a preference in Salesforce).
