About the Role:


We are seeking a skilled and motivated Director, Finance to join our Corporate team. This position, based in downtown Toronto, offers a highly visible and rewarding opportunity to contribute to the financial reporting and analysis processes of corporate operations. The Manager, Finance will collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify and implement key improvement opportunities while leading and mentoring a growing team of senior/corporate accountants and interns.


Key Responsibilities:

In this role, you will:


  • Financial Reporting: Manage the consolidation and summary of financial results for companies within the corporate segment on a quarterly and annual basis to meet internal management and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Technical Accounting: Lead the execution of complex technical accounting tasks, coordinating across business units and departments.
  • Process Improvements: Drive efficiency by leading monthly financial close cycles and identifying practical process improvement opportunities.
  • Transaction Oversight: Review daily journal entries and period-end accruals to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Shared Service Functions: Oversee finance responsibilities in treasury and accounts payable shared service functions.
  • Collaboration: Regularly engage with other business groups and departments to address finance inquiries and foster strong inter-departmental relationships.
  • Team Leadership: Review the work of junior team members, provide mentorship, and contribute to their professional growth.
  • Efficiency Initiatives: Continuously seek process improvements, propose practical solutions, and integrate them into workflows.
  • Special Projects: Take ownership of assigned projects to support the evolving needs of the team and organization.


Qualifications and Requirements:


Experience:


  • 6-8 years of progressive experience in accounting or auditing roles, including a minimum of 4 years in industry settings.
  • Exposure to public company reporting requirements under IFRS.


Education: Professional accounting designation (CPA required).


Skills:


  • Advanced proficiency in financial systems and Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics, HFM, and/or Workiva is an asset.
