What We Are Seeking
The Director of Marketing and Communications will lead the development and execution of strategic marketing initiatives that enhance brand identity, foster business growth, and engage internal and external stakeholders. This individual will manage a dynamic marketing team, refine processes, and ensure the firm’s story, values, and expertise resonate with clients, partners, and communities. By combining innovative strategies, impactful storytelling, and data-driven insights, the Director will position the organization as an industry leader while fostering collaboration across all offices and disciplines.
Strategic Leadership & Team Development
- Develop and implement a comprehensive Marketing and Communication Strategy aligned with organizational goals, growth priorities, and market positioning.
- Assess and optimize team structure, capabilities, and workflows to build a high-performing, inclusive, and proactive marketing department.
- Mentor and support professional development within the team, fostering accountability, collaboration, and innovation.
Brand Management & Messaging
- Define and maintain brand guidelines, ensuring consistent application across all internal and external materials.
- Lead the creative design and strategic execution of marketing materials, including corporate reports, project profiles, proposals, and digital content.
- Oversee organizational imagery, staff profiles, and storytelling initiatives to showcase the firm’s expertise and community impact.
Internal and External Communications
- Develop and manage internal communication tools, such as leadership updates, and intranet content, newsletters, to improve user experience and staff engagement.
- Strategize external communication campaigns, including public relations, social media, and thought leadership programs, to amplify the firm's voice and visibility.
- Collaborate with leadership to craft client-centered communication strategies, proposals, and presentations that highlight the firm’s unique value proposition.
Digital Marketing & Media
- Manage the organization’s digital presence, including website maintenance, social media strategy, and content calendars.
- Analyze campaign performance and leverage insights to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation.
- Lead the evolution of the firm’s intranet and external-facing digital platforms to align with branding and improve functionality.
Business Development & Lead Generation
- Work with senior leadership to establish systems for lead identification and pipeline development.
- Support the creation of compelling proposals and presentations that align with the organization’s mission and client aspirations.
- Manage the awards submission process, ensuring high-quality entries that reinforce the firm’s market positioning.
Events, Sponsorships & Swag
- Oversee the strategic planning and execution of client events, sponsorships, and community engagement initiatives to expand the firm’s brand identity.
- Manage swag programs, ensuring creative and high-quality materials that reflect the organization’s values and standards.
Other
- Implement metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of marketing strategies and initiatives.
- Provide regular updates to the executive team, using insights to continuously refine and optimize marketing efforts.
- As a member of our team, you are expected to actively adhere to all health and safety policies and procedures established by the company. This includes understanding and following all relevant guidelines, participating in mandatory training sessions, and consistently practicing safe work habits. You are responsible for identifying and reporting potential hazards, contributing to a safe working environment, and ensuring compliance with regulations. Your commitment to maintaining a safe workplace is crucial to the well-being of all employees and the overall success of our operations.
What You Will Bring
- 15+ years of experience in marketing, communications, or business development within the architecture, design, or professional services sectors.
- Proven leadership experience managing and optimizing marketing teams, with a focus on results-driven strategies and client engagement.
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, Architecture, or related field is required; Master’s degree or additional certifications (e.g., LEED, PMP) are a plus.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong strategic thinking and the ability to execute and measure marketing campaigns.
- Ability to inspire and lead teams to achieve shared goals, with a focus on collaboration and empowerment.
- Ability to think critically about long-term growth and sustainability, both for the firm and the communities we serve.
- Expertise in digital marketing, proposal management, and content creation.
- Knowledge of the architecture and design industry, with an understanding of the specific challenges and opportunities in building sustainable, community-driven spaces.
- Proficiency in CRM systems, marketing automation tools, and project management software.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Suites and Adobe InDesign.
