Insight Global is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Project Manager to oversee the planning, execution and delivery of capital projects that supports this clients academic, research, and operational needs. This key role will focus on mid-to-large scale projects, ensuring alignment with strategic goals, and enhancing the built campus environment.
The successful candidate will manage the full project lifestyle, including budgeting, scheduling, risk management, and cross-functional coordination while working with internal and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality results.
The Senior Project Manager, reporting to the Strategic Advisor, Facilities Services, and Campus Development, collaborates with the project delivery team to ensure successful outcomes. This role provides expert guidance on best practices, complex project strategies, and problem-solving, acting as a key resource to uphold processes and high standards. The Senior Project Manager also mentors junior staff, offering expertise in project methodologies, risk management, and navigating challenges unique to the post-secondary sector.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead and manage multiple construction and renovation projects, ensuring alignment with university goals as well as prioritizes accessibility and inclusivity in the built environment.
- Oversee project planning, budgeting, execution, and close-out, adhering to project management processes.
- Monitor project risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.
- Collaborate with internal teams, external consultants, and contractors to achieve project objectives.
- Manage contractor performance, and quality control in line with university standards and policies.
- Report regularly to senior management on project progress, financials, and risks.
- Support strategic planning and continuous improvement initiatives to streamline project delivery.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Frequent on-site presence to monitor construction activities and ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Occasional after-hours or emergency response may be required.
- Travel to other campus locations as required.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Project Management, or a related discipline. A minimum of 8 years of progressive project management experience, preferably in the education or public sector, including infrastructure renovations and new builds. A combination of experience and education may be considered.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
- Strong project management skills with a focus on tactical execution and problem-solving.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in project management tools and reporting systems.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of national and provincial codes, standards, and sustainability practices (ie. NBC, LEED).
- Strong leadership, budgeting, risk management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or other relevant certification is an asset.
- Experience working with public procurement processes, budget management, and regulatory compliance.
