ELECTRICAL ENGINEER - San Fernando, CA
Full Time: Salary Target is $100,000
Overview: As a member of the technical staff, the Electrical Engineer is responsible for the design of new electronic products up to full production. This includes:
- Specification reviews
- Development program timelines and reports
- Design reviews
- Simple mechanical designs
- Documentation packages
- Preproduction builds
- Transfers to production
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform engineering work related to the design, manufacture, installation, operation, or maintenance of electronic and electromagnetic systems or equipment.
- Analyze and validate design or theory concepts using research techniques.
- Develop and review technical specifications regarding all electrical matters.
- Develop and manage technical documentation of processes, products, and quality requirements.
- Propose improvements for designs and concepts to optimize processes and products.
- Define and implement manufacturing processes for electrical installations and components.
- Support and advise on solving production problems.
- Develop training materials and provide assistance in electrical technical matters.
- Attend project meetings to support the project.
- Analyze and interpret schematics, drawings, and technical manuals.
- Perform hands-on testing of electrical components, wiring, and system components.
Additional Duties:
- Direct and coordinate manufacturing, construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, and testing activities.
- Inspect completed installations and observe operations.
- Investigate customer or public complaints, determine the nature and extent of the problem, and recommend remedial measures.
Required Skills/Qualifications:
- Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on experience in electrical engineering for manufacturing assembly, preferably in the rail industry.
- AS or BS in Engineering.
- Experience in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma is a plus.
- Training in 3D CAD tools.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Experience in SAP is a plus.
- Experience with analog circuit simulation tools (e.g., PSPICE) and CAD software (ProE or AutoCAD preferred).
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, and Word).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Physical Demands:
- Frequently required to sit, use hands, talk, hear, stand, walk, reach above shoulders, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
- Occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds and climb ladders or steps to access equipment.
- Specific vision abilities: close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
- Manufacturing environment with occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outdoor weather conditions.
- Regular exposure to work in high places.
- Noise level can be loud.
