JOB SUMMARY
Works under minimal supervision to provide skilled work involved in regular operation of automobile, van, or mini-bus in transportation of passengers to on-campus and off-campus locations.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Required
  • Education

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience

  • 4 years full-time paid experience in operation of various types of motor vehicles, such as vans, mini-buses, station wagons, etc.
  • Licenses and Certifications

  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required for operating vehicles weighing 26,001 pounds or more and
    If incumbent carries 14 or more passengers including driver, CDL with passenger endorsement

JOB DUTIES
  • Assists Supervisor in day-to-day transportation to ensure efficient and effective operations.
  • Provides limited daily supervision of drivers. Monitors drivers to ensure proper and consistent performance of duties.
  • Provides training to drivers, which includes, but is not limited to, route training, usage of equipment and shuttle bus, etc.
  • Receives direction from the Supervisor concerning the activities of the drivers assigned to the AM/PM shift.
  • Operates van or mini-bus for transportation of employees and visitors on scheduled route connecting on-campus and off-campus locations. Picks-up and delivers mail, packages, drugs, and supplies to off-campus locations on assigned route.
  • Learns multiple routes and may fill in on an as needed basis.
  • In outpatient clinic, transports patients to specialty care units and agencies within cooperative system.
  • Maintains vehicle operating records and reports needed maintenance and repairs. Performs minor and routine maintenance such as refueling, ensuring proper tire pressure, and checking oil, water, and batteries periodically.
  • Acts as a backup of operations for Supervisor and Manager as needed.
  • May assist in completing annual employee performance evaluations.
  • May assist in scheduling work, monitoring projects, and ensuring route coverage.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
