Details of the positionJob title:Student SupervisorSchool / Centre / Department :Drummondville Elementary SchoolLocation :Drummondville, QuebecWorkload :15 hours per weekMonday to Friday11:00am to 2:00pmSalary :$24.17 -$26.30 per hourSupervisor :School PrincipalNature of the workThe principal and customary work of an employee in this class of employment consists in ensuring that students adhere to the school policy on discipline.Description of tasksSupervise students in the school and its buildings to ensure that rules are observed and that students are safe.Make rounds, give warnings, observe, and report any abnormal situations to the persons designatedGreet and direct students and visitorsExplain regulationsIf necessary, give his or her advice concerning the drawing up and evaluation of regulationsMay supervise students during exams, in detention, or isolation rooms, or in the classroom, when the teacher is absent for a short period of timeSupervises students during the arrival and departure of school buses as well as on the busSupervise students in the cafeteriaMay be required to help students with eating, dressing, get aroundIn conjuncture with teachers and the students services staff, participate in carrying out and supervising student activities.Make sure that the necessary material and accessories are available for certain activitiesWithin his or her competence and according to school policy:
Maintain a safe environment, particularly in stopping fights and other acts of aggressionAssist the school administration concerned when conducting locker or student searchesNotify the police and works with the latterMay be called upon to act as a witness in courtParticipates in preparing accident and theft reportsAdministers first aid
Locks and unlocks rooms and gatesAssign lockers and locks; ensure return of locksView the security camera feeds used for nighttime surveillance and notify administration of any abnormal situation observedParticipate in monitoring absences
Collect absence listsMay be required to enter data and carry out the compilation requestedIssues and compiles late slips and so informs the administration according to the procedure establishedCall parents to inquire about student absence
Perform any other related duty.Desired profileMeet one of the following profiles:Hold a secondary school diplomaHold an attestation of studies recognized as equivalent by the competent authority and have one (1) year of pertinent experience in those areas requiring self-discipline, general concepts in psychology and human relations skills.Other requirements:Hold a certificate dated no more than three (3) years attesting to the successful completion of:a standard first aid course of a minimum eight (8)-hour durationa refresher course of a minimum six(6)-hour duration updating the skills acquired in the course mentioned in subparagraph 1.
