Amerex Group LLC, a family-owned Midtown Manhattan apparel company, is seeking a talented and enthusiastic Designer to join our team. The Designer will collaborate closely with the Design Director on swimwear development, supporting the process from initial concept through production for Red Carter, Jessica Simpson, Beyond Control, and private label programs.
This role involves assisting with color, print, and fabric selection for each collection, coordinating salesman samples and duplicate development for market appointments, attending fittings to help ensure product consistency, and supporting sales efforts through line sheet updates and sample requests. Additionally, the Designer will analyze weekly and seasonal sales performance to track best-selling items and collaborate with the marketing team to help promote products online and enhance customer outreach.
Responsibilities
- Assist in developing SKU plans for each season.
- Help create swimwear collections from concept to production.
- Conduct market research on current and emerging trends.
- Assist with preparing tech packs and BOMs.
- Help develop seasonal line sheets.
- Review and approve fabrics, lab dips, and trims with oversight.
- Communicate with vendors and factories daily.
- Order samples for accounts and advertising needs.
- Support product fittings and update tech packs as needed.
- Help present developments to licensors for approval.
- Support the sales team by enhancing product knowledge and assisting with customer pitches.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or Marketing.
- Experience:
- 4–6 years of swimwear design experience.
- Knowledge of production processes from concept to finished goods.
- Familiarity with Wal-Mart accounts and 3D design software (preferred).
- 4+ years of experience selling to department, chain, and specialty store customers.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, Adobe Illustrator, and Photoshop.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Experience working closely with overseas development teams.
