Title: Merchandise Planner

Location: West Hollywood; Hybrid 

Reports to: Vice President, Product and Planning

Employment Type: Full-time 

FLSA Status: Exempt 

Salary Range: $90K - $110K

POSITION SUMMARY:


The Merchandise Planner will manage and analyze key retail performance metrics, lead meetings with the Buying Team to drive strategic planning, budget alignment, and inventory decisions. Key responsibilities include generating weekly sales reports, monitoring inventory levels, making stock replenishment recommendations, and supporting Vintage and New Store Buying teams with seasonal and growth-driven plans. You’ll collaborate closely with Buyers to optimize assortments, analyze product performance, and provide actionable insights to improve sales and margins.


DUTIES INCLUDE:


  • Monthly Open To Buy: Update the open to buy report at month end, with actualized and projected sales, receipts, and inventory turns. Lead the monthly meeting with the Buying Team, collaborating closely with Buyers on strategic plans and providing very clear direction on budgetary guard rails. 
  • Weekly Performance Reports:  Run data and generate weekly performance reports that recap selling by channel and department, comparing weekly sales to last year and to plan. Report this information out to the Product, Sales, and Executive teams every week. Identify best and slow sellers and key areas of opportunity. 
  • Replenishment: Create a weekly replenishment report that reports sell-through and weeks of supply at the SKU level. Make reorder and stock balancing recommendations to Buyers. Write replenishment orders on all NK Basics, ensuring products are never out of stock for our customers.
  • SKU Plans: Analyze productivity at the SKU level to determine departments that are overassorted &/or underserved. Work closely with the Buyers to develop SKU plans at the Category and Group level based off of this data.  
  • Vintage Buy Plans: Provide the Vintage Buying team with budgets drilled down to the product group level in advance of quarterly buying trips. Buy Plans should support the company’s margin and revenue goals, keeping seasonality front of mind and emphasizing revenue driving product categories. 
  • Seasonal Hindsight : Recap seasonal sell throughs and highlight hits and misses by category. Make recommendations for future buys in regards to timing of receipts, price point, and number of customer choices.  
  • New Store Opening Stock Plans: Create new store plans as the company ventures into new markets. New store plans should be both data driven and thoughtful, and support the company’s goals in terms of revenue, margin, turn, and customer experience. 
  • Ad Hoc Reporting : Run reports on an as needed basis to drive unique business needs. 
  • Other duties as required by your manager. 


QUALIFICATIONS & KEY ATTRIBUTES:


  • Deep understanding and fluency of retail math and merchandise planning with a minimum 5 years experience in Merchandise Planning & Allocation.  
  • Proficiency in Excel, with a minimum of 5 years experience. 
  • Strong analytical skills, and a curiosity to always dig deeper and peel back the layers. 
  • Comfortable articulating and presenting strategy in group settings.
  • Ability to manage up and communicate effectively on projects with the Executive Team. 
  • Flexible and positive attitude; able to work both independently and within teams.  
  • Exceptional time and project management skills. 
  • Innovative and always thinking about how to support the best customer experience.
