Salary: $30 - $40/hour (DOE)
Type: Full-Time Temp-to-Hire
Schedule: 1st Shift, Mon-Fri (7:00 AM - 3:30 PM)
Tool Maker Responsibilities at a Glance:
Tool Fabrication & Repair:
- Build and repair various types of fixtures and tools.
- Plan operations based on blueprints, sketches, and models.
Setup & Operation:
- Perform setups with minimal supervision to achieve first article acceptance.
- Operate tools and conduct test runs to meet exacting specifications.
Process Improvement:
- Identify and recommend ways to reduce part quality variation.
- Continuously enhance procedures and eliminate waste.
Inspection & Adjustments:
- Use precision instruments for first article and in-process inspections.
- Maintain tolerances within .0005” and make necessary adjustments.
Communication & Collaboration:
- Provide data to management through visual management forms.
- Positively engage with employees and management levels.
What Makes a Great Tool Maker:
- Experience: 5+ years with Conventional Mill/Lathe (CNC experience is a plus). Aerospace experience is REQUIRED.
- Precision Skills: Expertise in machining tolerances, offsets, and cutting tool properties.
- Inspection Proficiency: Skilled with indicators, gauges, and inspection methods.
- Blueprint Knowledge: Ability to interpret and follow detailed blueprints.
- Mathematics Aptitude: Strong understanding of technical and applied mathematics.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with AS9100, 5S, Lean, or Six Sigma preferred.
