Position Description:
The Controls Engineer is responsible for the design, troubleshooting, and improvement of electrical and electronic control systems for new and existing equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Evaluate and improve machine safety conditions for plant personnel.
- Evaluate and improve processes for capability and Quality requirements.
- Develop and schedule training programs for technical resources.
- Troubleshoot complex equipment down time issues.
- Investigation of production and quality issues.
- Research, test, and purchase parts and new equipment along with monitoring existing stock.
- Planning and design of new projects regarding both in-house projects and new line startups.
- Provide feasibility and cost estimations for new projects or process improvement plans.
Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience
- BS in Electronics or Electrical Engineering.
- Two to three years engineering experience, preferably in the automotive industry.
Skills and Abilities
- Proficient in PLC programming (Siemens preferred), robot programming (ABB Preferred), automation interfaces, vision systems, networking, and Microsoft applications.
- Experience in reading and creating electrical schematics.
- Ability to recommend improvements to the manufacturing process.
- Makes decisions on equipment and fixture adjustments.
- design and facilitate installation of complex control systems.
