The CAD Technician will work within the Survey department as part of the Technical Office of Design. This position utilizes computer-aided drafting system to provide support to engineers, architects, design staff and clients by producing clear and technically accurate volumetric drawings based on design specifications.
Description:
- Utilize computer-drafting techniques to generate work plans, construction drawings, volume reports and as-built plans
- Updating software, drawings, and other documents
- Remaining professional when feedback is delivered and implementing any changes to drafts as soon as possible
- Perform earthwork and general quantity calculations from survey data which is often used for client billing, progress tracking, and project estimating
- Have relevant experience with a civil engineering consulting firm or heavy construction firm
- Ensuring drawings are compliant with regulations and engineering principles
- Communicating potential design issues to engineers and architects
- Maintain an organized file system for production drawings
- Performs related work as required
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Data collection and evaluation techniques
- Practical experience with CAD software
- Knowledge of engineering and construction
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail
- Superb work ethic and ability to accept feedback
Qualifications:
- Degree or Diploma in drafting or acceptable combination education and or experience
- Working knowledge and experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D
- Reading and understanding civil engineered construction plans
- Survey data processing – GPS and conventional is highly desired but not required
- Minimum of 3 years of CAD experience required

- This position is an office position which will include work at a desk and use of email, Microsoft Office, and various other software as required.
