The Material Metrology Division at Nova is looking for a highly technical and motivated individual to support our growth in the semiconductor material metrology segment in Fremont, CA . You will have the opportunity to develop electronics, firmware, and controllers for metrology systems, where your embedded system design skills can be fully utilized. You will participate in a team of electrical and firmware engineers and work directly with scientists to deliver innovative electrical/electronic solutions from research pathfinding to product realization.
Pay Range: $120,000- $160,000 Annually (DOE)

Role and Responsibilities
- Design and develop mixed-signal circuits, firmware, and controllers for advanced metrology systems.
- Define subsystem requirements, design PCBAs (schematics, layout), develop firmware, and lead board bring-up. Perform thorough verification and validation, troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, collaborate with cross-functional teams and contract manufacturing partners, and release design files and documentation.
- Drive technological innovation in partnership with customers. Ideate and mitigate risks, apply best design practices, facilitate design reviews, and manage the full product lifecycle.
- Contribute to the development of high-quality products and ensure timely product launches in alignment with project plans.
Requirements
- Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Highly motivated, self-driven, and eager to learn with strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- 3+ years of industry experience.
- Proficient in analog and mixed-signal circuit analysis and design at the board level (PCBA).
- Proficient in PCBA design, including schematic capture and layout, with experience using ECAD tools (preferably Altium).
- Skilled in embedded system programming (C/C++), particularly for ARM architecture.
- Experienced with microcontroller integration, including clock management, GPIO, I2C, SPI, UART, and memory for embedded designs.
- Proficient in diagnostic and troubleshooting techniques at both the component and system level, utilizing oscilloscopes, waveform generators, and other lab equipment.
- Strong expertise in complex system-level debugging and root cause analysis.
- Experience in user interface and GUI development using C# or Python.
- Hands-on experience in electrical design verification and characterization testing, with a solid understanding of hardware design and manufacturing test parameters.
- Commitment to following best design practices to ensure reliability, cost-effectiveness, manufacturability, testability, and serviceability.
- Ability to generate comprehensive test plans for functional, verification, and validation testing, and execute test scripts (preferably in Python) for various test phases.
