The Executive Director serves as the executive officer with day-to-day responsibility for the management and operation of the Crisis Stabilization Unit that provides short term stabilization and crisis services to patients experiencing a behavioral crisis such as a mental health issue, substance use, and more. Responsible for the development, implementation, and achievement of the center’ strategic business plan in conjunction with routine operations to include quality of care, staff development, maintenance of licensure and accreditations, financial performance, and continuous performance improvement.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Collaborates with the governing body in the development of an annual operating capital budget and strategic business plan.
  • Manages day-to day operations and staff so that the center achieves its objectives in the following key performance areas: effective patient care outcomes, customer satisfaction measures, appropriate fiscal management, maintenance of licensure, accreditation and other regulatory criteria, and implementation of focused business development processes.
  • Organizes the day-to-day management and operation of the center through departmentalization, delegation, and alignment of responsibilities to meet the center’s business objectives.
  • Provides referral options for inpatient care when appropriate and warranted.
  • Creates and maintains a network of local constituency groups to include government agencies, local businesses, affiliate health providers, and the surrounding community.
  • Appraises leadership of team performance, both of individual members and the team as a whole, assesses competencies, and provides coaching/corrective action as appropriate under the direction of the governing body.
  • Ensures participation of staff in facility/program wide in-service and continuing education programs, including those specific to the treatment of children, adolescents and families.
  • Effectively manages and directs contract negotiations and contract compliance with the state and commercial payor community to include rate negotiations and services provided.
  • Serves as the final authority for resolution of staff performance concerns and performance improvement activities as appropriate.
  • Remains current in all national healthcare-based initiatives through participation in relevant national organizations and state-based hospital association.


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • BA in Human Services field OR graduation from an approved/accredited school of nursing required; MBA/MHA preferred.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in senior leadership role in an acute mental health treatment.
  • Demonstrates thorough knowledge of the behavioral health industry and crisis center operations.
  • Strong working knowledge of financial management and business development processes.


LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:

Professional clinical license issued by the appropriate licensing body as required by the state (e.g. LCSW, LMST LPC or RN).

SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS:

Five or more years of supervisory/management experience in behavioral healthcare setting required.
