GNS Automotive Company was founded in 1971 in South Korea. The footprint expanded rapidly beyond East Asia to North America. Today GNS North America which is a wholly owned subsidiary, has its corporate headquarters in Grand Rapids, MI with manufacturing facilities in Canton, MI, Holland, MI and San Jose Iturbe, Mexico.
GNS North America was established in 2009 initially by acquiring a company with core capabilities in conventional stamped parts for customers in the automotive industry. GNS North America quickly established capability for hot stamping of press hardened steels with the intention of growth in this newly expanding technology at the time. GNS NA is primarily a Tier 1 Hot Stamping parts and assembly supplier to the automotive industry with product applications that include structural parts, roof reinforcements, bumper components, pillars, and door beams. GNS has the number 1 position with its largest customer for door beam supply. GNS’ tool and die capabilities offer simulation and full design and build activities for its hot stamp business. GNS North America revenue grew extensively in the first 10 years. GNS North America's two Michigan plants account for approximately 70% of total revenues in North America.

GNS North America employs an extensive range of skills in application and manufacturing of new products, including primarily hot stamping equipment that caters to automotive metals requirements across a variety of materials. GNS North America also provides conventional stamping solutions. GNS is also a recognized leader in the user of laser technologies for cutting, trimming, and hole piercing, utilizing multi-axis laser equipment for both prototyping and large volume production. The company’s welding and assembly cells are automated, employing robots to perform complex, precise operations to achieve maximum cost optimization while producing highest quality products for customers.
Position Summary:
The Human Resources Manager leads and directs the routine functions of the Human Resources (HR) department including but not limited to recruiting, benefit and leave administration, employee relations, and enforcing company policies and practices.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Partner with the leadership team to understand and execute the organizations Human Resource and talent strategy particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning. Also facilitate the onboarding program for corporate employees.
- Provide support and guidance to management, and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; it may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodation, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations.
- Prepare of Company internal and external communications, including newsletters and social media posts.
- Prepare and deliver weekly and bi-weekly KPI reports.
- Assist with the facilitation and delivery of DEI activities.
- Facilitate training programs for new hires, leadership development, and ongoing employee growth. Collaborate with Managers to assist with identifying training needs for employees and partner with external trainers and resources to deliver specialized training.
- Assist with the facilitation of the annual Performance Management program. Support leadership in setting and tracking team and individual performance goals.
- Oversee employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommend best practices; review policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and recent technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law
- Support all benefit related functions including but not limited to coordinating medical, dental, vision enrollments and communications.
- Assist with Company payroll processing on an as needed basis
- Fulfill additional responsibilities as required.
Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Management, or other related field required.
- 10+ years of experience in Human resources
- 5+ years of HRM or HRBP experience preferred.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

Physical Demands: The position is in the factory and involves walking, standing for long periods of time throughout the day. It requires being able to lift up to 50 pounds, push and pull up to 75 pounds. Involve continuous or repetitive arm-hand movements while operating a machine. Stooping/bending/twisting is required on a regular basis. Fast-paced environment, usually work standard 40-hour weeks, but overtime may be necessary as work load’s dictate. This may include weekdays, weekends, and/or holidays.
Work Environments: Work performed in a shop environment and regularly exposed to dust, odors, oil, fumes, and noise. It requires wearing personal protective or safety equipment. Noise level is frequently loud (90 dbA). The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and airborne particles. Requires working in non-air-conditioned variable temperature factory setting. Employees may be subject to random drug and alcohol testing, pre-employment physical and background checks.
