Team Impact

The Talent Acquisition Specialist - Nursing reports directly to the Director, Talent Acquisition & Retention with a matrix reporting relationship to the Sr. Vice President Patient Services & Chief Nursing Officer. The Talent Acquisition Specialist – Nursing serves as a strategic partner to CNO and nursing leadership team specific to all phases of nursing recruitment and retention including candidate sourcing, placement and onboarding and career development. This position is responsible for full life-cycle talent acquisition and retention of nurses and nursing support staff, including, but not limited to PCAs, ED techs and BHU techs. This position requires the need to establish collaborative relationships among the Nursing Leadership team, nurse hiring managers, marketing, outside staffing agencies, as well as cultivating partnerships with schools of nursing. This position builds and maintains a network of contacts within the industry to identify and source qualified candidates. The TA Specialist - Nursing is responsible for the development of local and national (where applicable) campaigns, employing traditional sourcing strategies and resources as well as developing creative marketing and advertising ideas that showcase nursing excellence at GFH and areas with critical needs. The Talent Acquisition Specialist - Nursing is responsible for maintaining the nurse application process to ensure timely applicant assessment, interviewing, hiring decision, job offer and onboarding. This position will utilize RN recruitment and retention related metrics to address areas where performance improvement is required.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a strategic business partner to the Nursing Leadership team supporting objectives and initiatives related to RN and RN support staff recruitment and retention. Interacts with all levels of the organization, network, and community. Plays a critical role in ensuring Nursing Leaders/Hiring Managers hire and retain the best possible nursing talent.
  • Develops and maintains an excellent relationship with internal and external clients to ensure achievement of staffing goals. Provide a high-quality candidate and hiring manager experience by providing frequent and regular updates throughout the recruiting process and providing guidance as needed. Follows up with candidates and hiring managers to obtain feedback regarding talent acquisition process.
  • Responsible for creative marketing and advertising RN initiatives and participating in networking activities throughout the year. Develops advertising programs (internal and external) to ensure high visibility with potential candidates. Utilizes various sourcing and advertising best practices (student rosters, social media, direct mail, job boards, internet, job fairs, etc.) and regional events to develop a strong candidate pipeline). Acts as liaison with area nursing schools, employment agencies and advertising agencies.
  • Attends all recruitment events such as career fairs, college recruitment events etc. in order to represent GFH and attract nursing candidates.
  • Screen candidates by reviewing resumes and job applications, and performing initial screening; Prepare and process offers; Ensure all screening, hiring and selection is handled in a timely manner and in accordance with employment laws and regulations; Maintain candidate activity in the applicant tracking system (ATS) and retain application/resume files according to company policy and law.
  • Collaborate with HR team to develop and implement effective recruiting strategies
  • Analyze RN performance data (e.g. RN turnover and vacancy rates, applicant tracking metrics, unit level attrition, exit survey data) and utilize metrics to recommend initiatives to nursing leadership and nursing management to improve nurse retention. Assists nurse leadership in the implementation of initiatives at the department level.
  • Attend regular meetings of the nursing leadership team, weekly Labor Management meetings and relevant HR meetings.
  • Represents Glens Falls Hospital to promote the organization’s services and benefits
  • Establishes effective business relationships with candidates and external stakeholders to increase future referrals
  • Organizes and staffs recruiting events and attends other public events as appropriate

Qualifications

Qualifications/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing required
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in nursing with demonstrated leadership and communication skills required
  • Experience working in acute care facility is required
  • Experience in nurse recruitment or nursing education is strongly preferred Licenses, Certifications, Registrations
  • Professional licensure is required; relevant professional certification preferred
  • NYS license to operate a motor vehicle Skills and Abilities
  • Attentive to detail and ability to function as a team member in a complex organization
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral). Outgoing and engaging personality. Must actively pursue and guide RN applicants through the hiring process.
  • Ability to efficiently and effectively screen applicants and determine best clinical setting based on experience, personality and unit characteristics.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret and present data efficiently.
  • Demonstrated success working independently, forging relationships and managing multiple tasks with minimal direction
  • Strong organizational skills, flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and follow through on requests in a timely manner
  • Ability to problem solve and is innovative in creating solutions
  • Fluent in varied computer applications and technology essential to the role (email, social media, internet, Microsoft Office applications, applicant tracking systems, etc.)

Salary Range

The expected base rate for this Glens Falls, New York, United States-based position is $76,000 to $114,000 per annum. Exact rate is determined on a case-by-case basis commensurate with experience level, as well as education and certifications pertaining to each position which may be above the listed job requirements.
