Key Responsibilities

As a Chef, you’ll:

Lead the Kitchen Team
  • Mentor and guide kitchen staff to ensure consistency and excellence in food preparation and service.
  • Assist with hiring, training, and scheduling within budgetary goals.
Create and Innovate
  • Develop seasonal menus that reflect the Rustic Canyon Family’s values.
  • Conduct recipe testing, maintain documentation, and ensure accurate cost management.
Manage Operations
  • Oversee daily kitchen activities, including food production, staff assignments, and inventory management.
  • Maintain strict food safety standards, consistently achieving top Health Department grades.
  • Monitor kitchen labor costs, food costs, and key financial metrics.
Maintain Quality and Safety
  • Ensure dishes meet the highest standards while minimizing waste and using surplus ingredients creatively.
  • Manage kitchen maintenance schedules and ensure all equipment is serviced regularly.
Collaborate and Communicate
  • Work closely with management to align kitchen operations with restaurant goals.
  • Participate in weekly manager meetings and represent the RC Family at external events as needed.
Requirements

We’re looking for a Chef with:

  • Proven leadership skills and a commitment to team development.
  • A strong ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment without compromising quality.
  • Excellent communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Expertise in food safety, cleanliness, and sanitation practices.
  • A California Food Handler’s card or equivalent certification.
  • Physical ability to meet job demands, including standing, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
Working Conditions
  • Exposure to noise, heat, and kitchen equipment.
  • May require working evenings, weekends, holidays, and additional hours.
Uniform Requirements
