Chief Estimator Duties:

• Assist senior staff in efficient bid reviews.
• Evaluate bid opportunities across departments.
• Implement strategies to enhance estimate accuracy.
• Lead and manage a team of estimators.
• Train inexperienced estimators in the bidding process.
• Analyze crew size, production rates, equipment needs, and material costs.
• Factor in CPM schedules, rental equipment rates, and logistical considerations.
• Incorporate escalators for materials, labor, and fuel costs in bids.
• Ensure thorough understanding of Special Provisions and ask pertinent bidding questions.
• Review plans and specs to identify project risks and estimating opportunities.
• Prepare quantity takeoffs and estimate guidelines.
• Coordinate with take-off engineers for accuracy.
• Maintain HCSS masters for updated labor, equipment, and overhead rates.
• Manage HCSS Heavy Bid and Heavy Job systems.
• Evaluate technical project issues to optimize construction methods.
• Develop estimated plans and schedules with project teams.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and site tours as required.
• Verify estimate production rates align with company history and trends.
• Support technical proposal requirements and qualifications.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
• Prepare cost reports and present findings to stakeholders.
• Foster productive relationships with clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
• Assist project managers with change order cost estimates.
