We’re seeking a skilled Professional Engineer to join our team and make an impact in this dynamic field.
Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Professional Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil engineering and be proficient in various engineering software tools. This role involves designing, analyzing, and overseeing the construction of modular structures to ensure they are safe, sustainable, and compliant with regulations. The Professional Engineer will collaborate with architects, contractors, and other engineers to deliver high-quality projects.
Responsibilities
- Examine and verify building plans for compliance with relevant California Building Codes and associated codes, including the California Plumbing Code, California Mechanical Code, California Electric Code, and State disabled access codes.
- Review structural calculations and standards to ensure alignment with codes and engineering principles.
- Generate energy calculations such as COMCHECK, CAL GREEN, and TITLE 24.
- Collaborate closely with the Estimating Manager and Director of Operations to transform quoted building estimates into comprehensive, code-compliant drawings optimized for production.
- Address and resolve potential issues identified in third-party or engineer reviews.
- Engage directly with external third-party agencies and Professional Engineers in the design-build process.
- Schedule and coordinate with third-party entities in the development of State Approved Drawings.
- Coordinate with third-party Inspectors and Quality Assurance personnel during State Inspections to ensure alignment with approved drawings.
- Conduct inspections along the production line, coordinating corrections for any deviations from approved drawings.
- Manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks to maintain a smooth production workflow.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering, architecture, or architectural design.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in providing building design and engineering services, including plan review.
- Valid Professional Engineer or Architect license issued by the State of California.
- Strong overall knowledge and understanding of various building codes, including the International Building Code, International Mechanical and Plumbing Codes, International Energy Conservation Code, and the National Electric Code.
- Basic knowledge of standard construction disciplines, including steel building practices, framing, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems, to assist in drawing package development.
- Proficiency in structural calculations.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to think creatively and problem-solve when addressing field corrections
