Job Description: This position is responsible for performing routine and non-routine analytical chemistry tests, primarily utilizing atomic spectroscopy techniques (e.g., ICP-OES, AA, ICP-MS) to support research and development, quality control, or other departmental needs. The successful candidate will work closely with a team of experienced scientists and engineers to ensure accurate and timely analytical data.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare samples for analysis using various techniques such as digestion, filtration, and dilution.
- Operate and maintain atomic spectroscopy instruments including routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration.
- Perform routine and non-routine analytical tests
- Follow and help create/update established standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Analyze and interpret analytical data, generate reports, and present findings to colleagues.
- Assist in the development and validation of new analytical methods.
- Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory records in accordance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
- Ensure a safe and clean working environment by following all laboratory safety protocols.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to project discussions.
- Assist with other laboratory tasks as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field.
- 0-2 years of relevant experience in an analytical chemistry laboratory (e.g., sample prep, dilutions, etc.).
- Strong understanding of fundamental analytical chemistry principles.
- Experience with atomic spectroscopy techniques (ICP-OES, ICP-MS, AAS) is highly preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desired Skills:
- Experience with other analytical techniques (e.g., SEM, XRD, HPLC, UV-Vis, Titration, IC).
- Knowledge of statistical analysis and data processing software.
- Experience with laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and move laboratory equipment and supplies.
- Ability to work with hazardous chemicals.
Work Environment:
- Laboratory environment with potential exposure to chemicals.
