Job Description

Job Description: This position is responsible for performing routine and non-routine analytical chemistry tests, primarily utilizing atomic spectroscopy techniques (e.g., ICP-OES, AA, ICP-MS) to support research and development, quality control, or other departmental needs. The successful candidate will work closely with a team of experienced scientists and engineers to ensure accurate and timely analytical data.


Responsibilities:


  • Prepare samples for analysis using various techniques such as digestion, filtration, and dilution.
  • Operate and maintain atomic spectroscopy instruments including routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration.
  • Perform routine and non-routine analytical tests
  • Follow and help create/update established standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Analyze and interpret analytical data, generate reports, and present findings to colleagues.
  • Assist in the development and validation of new analytical methods.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory records in accordance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
  • Ensure a safe and clean working environment by following all laboratory safety protocols.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to project discussions.
  • Assist with other laboratory tasks as needed.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field.
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience in an analytical chemistry laboratory (e.g., sample prep, dilutions, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of fundamental analytical chemistry principles.
  • Experience with atomic spectroscopy techniques (ICP-OES, ICP-MS, AAS) is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.


Desired Skills:

  • Experience with other analytical techniques (e.g., SEM, XRD, HPLC, UV-Vis, Titration, IC).
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis and data processing software.
  • Experience with laboratory information management systems (LIMS).


Physical Demands:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and move laboratory equipment and supplies.
  • Ability to work with hazardous chemicals.


Work Environment:

  • Laboratory environment with potential exposure to chemicals.
