The Associate Technical Designer will support the technical department by maintaining garment specs and standards for all the brands in our growing portfolio of products including legwear and seamless daywear such as tops, bottoms, bodysuits, etc. This role will interface with cross-functional team members, so we are looking for someone who has strong written and verbal communication skills. Our Associate Technical Designer will have the opportunity to multi-task in an ever-changing environment working with various leading brands.
Responsibilities:
- Accurately measure and evaluate samples from Proto through TOP stage
- Leverage knowledge from seamless previous experience in contributions to the Design department
- Collaborate with design teams during proto development to achieve proto standard
- Identify construction and patternmaking/knit issues
- Conduct fit sessions with Tech and Design teams and recaps corresponding teams
- Utilize knowledge of fit and knitwear machinery for correct/improved fit
- Create and update specs from new development samples based on store shopping
- Send clear sample comments and corrections to overseas factories via PLM/Emails
- Virtual once a week meeting with overseas on fit and construction related callouts
- Collaborates and communicates with cross-functional teams for entire product lifecycle
- Manage organization of the physical and digital submission library
- Track sample approval and organize physical protos and PPs
- Maintain and track spec development and updates on Airtable
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Technical Design
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in Technical Design
- Experience working with seamless required
- Solid understanding of basic garment construction, fitting and grade rules
- Knowledge of knitwear machinery is a plus
- Bra development and seamless knowledge is beneficial
- Organized and detail orientated. Ability to take immediate action to resolve issues and callouts.
- Able to maintain positive attitude in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of PLM, Microsoft Excel, and Outlook
- Working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
Annual salary range is starting at $65,000
