Position Overview: Sprinkler Installation Foreman and Superintendent plays a crucial role in the installation, supervision, service, and repair of various fire protection systems. These systems include wet, dry, pre-action, deluge, and foam suppression systems, as well as fire pumps and backflow devices. This position requires the execution of the installation project plan, which encompasses equipment delivery, accurate forecasting of installation hours, anticipating potential challenges, and ensuring all tools and equipment are properly secured at the end of each work period to prevent damage or loss. The Superintendent role will be responsible for handling multiple projects simultaneously while supervising multiple crews.
Key Responsibilities:
- Judgment and Decision-Making: Apply judgment based on practice and precedence to make informed decisions during the installation process.
- Team Leadership: Allocate work as a team leader, ensuring that any changes, discrepancies, and coordination problems that impair installation activities are brought to the immediate attention of the construction manager.
- Problem Resolution: Frequently resolve problems by researching multiple alternatives and maintaining proper documentation for all work performed.
- Project Review: Review project drawings to gather all necessary information to perform installation activities according to specifications.
- Flexible Work Schedule: Be prepared to work alternative shifts or weekends to meet customer and/or job requirements.
- Meeting Participation: Attend project meetings to stay informed and provide updates on installation progress.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of documented experience in the installation of fire sprinkler systems.
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Instruction Following: Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
- Physical Labor: Capable of performing physical labor, including carrying and moving equipment and tools weighing up to 70 lbs.
- Work Conditions: Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions, such as climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high lift equipment up to 60 feet, and working within ducts, crawl spaces, and above ceilings.
- Blueprint Reading: Ability to read and understand construction blueprints, diagrams, and specifications used in installation activities.
- Flexible Hours: Willingness to work flexible hours to meet job requirements.
- Safety Adherence: Ability to adhere to, implement, and follow safety guidelines and procedures at all times.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, using tact and diplomacy when dealing with customers and team members.
- Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills, a positive attitude, and an ability to learn quickly.
- Field Management: Experience handling large projects from start to finish.
- Supervisory Experience: Experience supervising and directing multiple crews.
