Why does the job exist?
This position provides daily admission/discharge coordination for Sequoyah Adolescent Treatment Center (SATC). Providing utilization review to all reimbursement information and assists with preparing appeals (when appropriate) for behavioral necessity; level of care; length of stay; and authorization denials for all admissions (inpatient residents). This position will work with the Clinical Department in submitting pre-admission reports to insurance companies for approval of admission. In conjunction with the Finance department ensure proper insurance and necessary documentation for billing.
How does it get done?
Assemble admission packets to acquire the essential information for referrals to the facility. Coordinate with the referral sources regarding the completion of packets and the scheduling of the admission/discharge. Communicate with the insurance companies for approvals. Present all information to the Admissions Committee regarding the following: referrals received; scheduled admissions; pending referrals; incomplete referral packets and recommendations for the transfer of residents. Contact appropriate external agency staff of decisions regarding a possible admission/current residents for discharge. Request financial verification to ensure prior approved screening. Schedule, coordinate and maintain confidentiality of all meeting information obtained regarding resident referrals. Obtain applicant information including: medical information; verifying and clarifying information; interviewing potential residents and family members; explaining admission criteria; discharge information Knowledge of Medicaid rules and policies. Assist with billing collections and serve as the Billing Coordinator backup in their absence.

Our facility is a secure facility which serves the needs of adolescent males aged 13-17 with a history of violence and aggression.
Ideal Candidate
High level of proficiency with Excel spreadsheets and Microsoft Office Suite; Familiarity with Medicaid billing; knowledge of medical terminology and insurance processes. Strong oral and written communication skills; knowledge of accounting principles; familiarity with SHARE Financial.
Minimum Qualification
High School diploma or Equivalency and one (1) year experience in bookkeeping, accounting, andor finance. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field andor direct experience in this occupation totaling one (1) year may substitute for the required experience.

Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results.
Working Conditions
Work is performed primarily in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer to include working with computers, faxes, copiers and printers, and phone usage with extended periods of sitting, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, reaching, kneeling and crawling. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. Some travel may be required.
