Voted Glassdoor's Employee Choice Awards - Best Places to Work in 2021, This is R/A!Job SummaryWorking as the Executive Chef a t the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History in DC with Restaurant Associates, you will lead a team of 13 culinary professionals. This outstanding role offers the chance to deliver world-class dining experiences in a setting that combines history and culture. As an ambitious and upbeat culinary leader, you will coordinate all kitchen operations while maintaining high standards of safety and sanitation. Your role is pivotal in successfully implementing Restaurant Associates' vision and ensuring an outstanding dining experience for all guests.Key Responsibilities:Develops and crafts regular and modified menus according to established guidelines.Follows standardized recipes, portioning, and presentation standards, completing daily production worksheets and waste logs.Trains kitchen staff in food preparation, safe handling, equipment operation, and sanitation based on Company and regulatory standards.Establishes and maintains equipment, storage, and work area cleaning and maintenance schedules.Manages inventory of food and supplies to stay within budgetary guidelines while ensuring product availability.Makes decisions on leftover food product utilization within Company guidelines.Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local health regulations and department sanitation procedures.Adheres to facility, department, and Company safety policies and procedures.Participates in departmental meetings, staff development, and professional programs.Preferred Qualifications:A.S. degree or equivalent experience.5+ years of progressive culinary/kitchen management experience.Extensive catering experience is a plus.Proven high-volume, complex foodservice operations experience.Institutional and batch cooking experience.Hands-on chef experience is essential.In-depth knowledge of food and catering trends, with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, and food cost controls.Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Outlook, and the Internet.Willingness to participate in client happiness programs.ServSafe certification is highly desirable.Apply to Restaurant Associates today!Restaurant Associates is a member of Compass Group USAClick here to Learn More about the Compass StoryCompass Group is an equal opportunity employer.
