The People

As a Process Improvement Engineer , you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Operations and Central Engineering, to lead process improvement initiatives. Your expertise will directly impact the efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability of manufacturing processes. You’ll also mentor junior engineers and guide the next generation of process improvement talent.

The Tech and What You'll Be Doing

• Process Improvement Initiatives: Identify, evaluate, and implement cost-saving improvements such as waste reduction, cycle-time reduction, and raw material optimization.
• Cycle Time and Capacity Improvements: Enhance batch process times, increase throughput, and reduce cleanout times to boost overall capacity.
• Energy and Sustainability: Investigate and implement opportunities for energy reduction and sustainability improvements in manufacturing processes.
• Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with Operations and Central Engineering to accomplish team-based goals, providing support where necessary.
• New Business and Product Development: Assess and support the implementation of new products, including feasibility studies, cost evaluations, and capital needs analysis.
• Customer Support and Process Engineering: Provide technical support for process-related inquiries, including customer visits (occasional travel required).
• Reporting and Communication: Provide concise, accurate updates on project progress and process improvements, including written monthly reports.
• Mentorship and Support: Mentor junior engineers and co-ops while contributing to team-based goals and continuous improvement efforts.
• Process Safety and Compliance: Participate in PHA/MOC processes and provide training and guidance on process safety.
• Contractor Coordination: Oversee contractors and their activities in support of process improvement initiatives.
• Cross-Department Communication: Foster effective communication between departments to ensure the success of process improvement projects.

The Skills You Will Need

We are looking for candidates who bring both technical expertise and leadership capabilities:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum of 7 years of applicable experience in process engineering or related field.
• Technical Skills: Expertise in process improvement, cycle-time reduction, energy optimization, and waste reduction.
• Software Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
• Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex information to diverse audiences.
• Leadership: Experience mentoring junior engineers and supporting cross-functional team objectives.
