Position Overview: The CRNA at OrthoArkansas plays a critical role in ensuring patient safety and comfort by administering anesthesia and related services during surgical procedures. This position requires advanced clinical expertise, adherence to established protocols, and a commitment to ongoing professional development. The CRNA must assess patients before anesthesia, manage care during procedures, and provide post-anesthesia care to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Clinical responsibilities may be reviewed and updated biennially to reflect advancements in the field.
Key Responsibilities: 1. Pre-Anesthesia Assessment: - Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients before administering anesthesia, identifying any risks or necessary precautions.
2. Anesthesia Administration: - Administer general anesthesia, adjuvant drugs, and sedation techniques based on the procedure and patient needs.
- Perform regional anesthesia techniques, ensuring appropriate anesthesia coverage.
3. Clinical Management: - Manage cardiopulmonary resuscitation, airway management, and monitoring throughout the procedure.
- Utilize invasive and noninvasive monitoring tools to assess patient status.
- Provide mechanical ventilation and oxygen therapy when required.
4. Procedural Support: - Insert and manage peripheral intravenous and arterial catheters.
- Assist in managing fluid, electrolyte, and acid-base balance during surgery.
5. Post-Anesthesia Care: - Provide acute and chronic pain management therapies post-surgery.
- Oversee post-anesthesia recovery and ensure safe patient discharge.
6. Continuing Education: - Pursue ongoing education, training, and certification updates to stay current with evolving anesthesia practices and standards.
7. Miscellaneous Duties: - Perform other related duties as assigned to support patient care and surgical operations.
Qualifications: - Education and Experience:
- Graduate degree in Nurse Anesthesia or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of related experience in anesthesia, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Required Certifications and Licenses:
- Current state licensure as a registered nurse in Arkansas.
- Certification eligibility, initial certification, or recertification through the Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists (CCNA).
Software Skills: - Intermediate: 10-Key proficiency.
- Basic: Accounting, Alphanumeric Data Entry for anesthesia-related documentation.
