Job Description
We are seeking a dynamic Category Manager to join a growing food company. In this role, you will leverage consumer insights, market data, and category trends to drive growth within specific product categories. You will collaborate closely with cross functional teams such as sales, marketing, finance, commercial, and executive leadership. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills and the ability to translate insights into actionable strategies. Client Details We are a growing CPG company in the better-for-you industry and dry grocery space. For this Category Manager role, we will accept fully remote applicants The majority of our team is based on-site in Missouri. Description Category Insights & Market Research: Lead the collection, analysis, and interpretation of consumer and market data (e.g., Nielsen, IRI, consumer surveys, focus groups) to identify key trends, opportunities, and challenges within the assigned product categories. Present actionable insights to guide marketing strategies. Category Strategy Development: Partner with the marketing team to develop data-driven strategies for category growth. This includes defining target audiences, positioning, and value propositions based on consumer needs, competitive analysis, and market trends. Campaign Planning & Execution: Work closely with brand and marketing teams to plan, execute, and measure integrated marketing campaigns aimed at growing category sales. Collaborate on digital, traditional, and in-store marketing tactics, ensuring alignment with category strategy. Consumer Segmentation & Targeting: Use consumer data and insights to segment markets and identify key opportunities for personalized marketing initiatives. Provide recommendations for messaging, creative development, and product positioning tailored to specific consumer segments. Category Performance Analysis & Reporting: Regularly monitor category performance, analyzing key metrics such as sales, market share, consumer sentiment, and ROI. Provide insights and recommendations for optimization to senior leadership and cross-functional teams. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with product development, sales, supply chain, and brand teams to ensure category strategies are effectively executed. Work with internal teams to ensure consistency in messaging, product assortment, and promotional plans. Competitive Analysis: Continuously track and assess competitor activities, pricing, promotional strategies, and new product launches within the category. Provide insights into competitive advantages and opportunities for differentiation. Consumer Behavior & Trend Forecasting: Leverage data to predict future consumer behavior, category trends, and emerging opportunities. Use insights to inform long-term category strategies and marketing innovation. Profile Education: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Consumer Insights, or a related field. MBA or advanced degree in a related area is a plus. Experience: 3 years of experience in a category manager role, consumer insights, marketing, or brand management within the CPG industry. Experience in working with category data and insights tools (e.g., Nielsen, IRI, SPSS, etc.) is preferred. Skills & Competencies: Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and translate it into actionable marketing strategies. Experience with market research techniques and consumer behavior analysis. Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Nielsen, IRI, Google Analytics, etc.) and Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.). Excellent communication skills with the ability to present findings and strategies to stakeholders. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining attention to detail. Strong understanding of marketing strategies, consumer trends, and retail dynamics in the CPG industry. Not for New York City Applicants.
