Job Description: Position: ICU Nurse
Reports to: ICU Nurse Manager
Summary: Provide specialized nursing care to critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Key Responsibilities: - Patient Assessment: Conduct comprehensive assessments of critically ill patients.
- Care Planning: Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient needs and diagnoses.
- Medication Management: Administer medications and monitor for side effects.
- Vital Signs Monitoring: Monitor vital signs and patient responses to interventions.
- Mechanical Ventilation: Manage mechanical ventilation and assist with tracheostomy care.
- Central Line Care: Care for central lines and other invasive devices.
- Hemodynamic Monitoring: Monitor hemodynamic parameters and manage fluid balance.
- Crisis Intervention: Respond to critical emergencies, such as cardiac arrests and respiratory distress.
Technical Skills: - Monitoring Equipment: Proficiency in using various monitoring equipment, including cardiac monitors, pulse oximeters, and blood pressure machines.
- IV Therapy: Skill in administering intravenous fluids, medications, and blood products.
- Wound Care: Knowledge and experience in managing various types of wounds, including dressing changes and wound care techniques.
- Tracheostomy Care: Ability to care for patients with tracheostomies, including suctioning and tube care.
- Mechanical Ventilation: Understanding of mechanical ventilation principles and ability to assist with ventilator management.
- Central Line Care: Knowledge of central line care, including dressing changes, flushing, and troubleshooting.
- Blood Transfusions: Proficiency in administering blood transfusions and monitoring for adverse reactions.
Qualifications: - Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing or equivalent.
- Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in intensive care nursing.
- Strong clinical skills and knowledge of critical care.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-stress environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
