OverviewnnAs an ICU Nurse at CHI Saint Joseph Health, you’ll monitor patients who are critically ill and unstable following extensive injury, surgery, or life-threatening disease. You’ll never have the same day twice as your patients’ needs evolve but you'll always begin each shift by taking report from a nursing teammate before making your rounds. You’ll provide continued care and perform procedures as detailed in the care plan.nnTo thrive in this role, you’ll heavily depend on your ability to multitask and react. You’ll clinically care for your patients- remaining focused and attentive as you continuously monitor your patients throughout your shift. You also serve as their advocate- supporting their best interests when they cannot. Your sound judgment during an emergency and rapid response are impressive, putting you on the radar for advancement.nnKey Responsibilities Include:nnAssess, plan and implement compassionate nursing care while ensuring patient comfortnnAnticipate, identify, and respond to informational and emotional needs of patients and familiesnnGuide and direct healthcare personnel (i.e., Patient Care Technicians) in caring for patientsnnMaintain knowledge of equipment setup, maintenance and use (i.e., IV pumps, monitoring equipment, and drainage devices)nnUtilize safeguards such as IV pump drug library and monitor alarmsnnInitiate emergency support measures (i.e., cardiopulmonary resuscitation, protecting patient from injury)nnAssist with patient care duties (i.e., emptying drainage devices, ambulating, and hygiene)nnIncentives:nnWe're offering a $25,000 sign on bonus AND up to $24,000 in outstanding student loan pay off for new hires that meet eligibility requirements.nnAbout Us:nnWelcome to Saint Joseph East, a 217-bed, full-service, community hospital located in a convenient setting in Lexington, Kentucky. Implements appropriate nursing care interventions. Administers medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and established nursing policies and procedures. Facilitates interdisciplinary partnership in patient care.nnIntegrates ethical provisions in nursing practice and delivers care in a manner that preserves and protects patient autonomy, dignity and rights.nnAdministers medications, IV therapy, and treatments in compliance with policies and procedures.nnEvaluates progress towards attainment of desired patient outcomes.nnDemonstrates effective on-going observations and reassessment of patient/family and their response to the interventions and changes in condition.nnDocuments assessments and interventions in accordance with hospital policy and standards of care.nnUtilizes resources appropriately and follows facility guidelines for documentation and charging of medical supplies and equipment.nnAssigns or delegates tasks to designated support personnel based on needs and conditions of the patient, complexity of the task, predictability of the outcome and facility policy.nnCollaborates with new employees and peers to support orientation, training and development opportunities.
