Job Description
Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN)
Job Specialty: Intermediate Care - ICU Stepdown Resource Team
Job Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Day/Night Rotating
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
Experience: Critical Care experience highly preferred; 2 years in a progressive care or step-down unit
License: Active ND or compact state RN license
Certifications: BLS and ACLS (must be AHA certified)
Must-Have:
- Ventilator experience
- Telemetry or step-down unit experience
- Ability to titrate vasopressor drips
- Experience with EPIC
- Experience with large hospitals or Level 1 centers
Job Description:
- Work in a PCU/Tele/ICU Stepdown unit caring for ER Admissions and ICU transfers who have been hemodynamically stable for a minimum of 4 hours.
- Care for medically stable ventilator patients who are trached and administer stable cardiac or vasoactive drips/IV meds.
- Perform assessments, medication administration, and help individualize patients' care plans in an interdisciplinary setting.
- Utilize equipment such as Bipaps, ventilators, and computerized charting (EPIC).
- Receive ventilator and pacemaker training as part of the unit-specific training and orientation program.
- Participate in every other weekend and holiday shifts.
- Float to other units within the cluster as needed, which includes caring for Intermediate Care Unit status patients on the ICU floors.
- Maintain a nurse-to-patient ratio of 3 to 4, based on acuity.
- Work with a nurse team in a challenging, fun, fast-paced, team-oriented unit.
- Follow the dress code of navy blue scrubs.
