Position Purpose
Develop and execute Non-Hire Stock Capital Engineering projects in support of CHEP North American Operations.
Major/Key Accountabilities
- Assist in developing business cases for project sponsors.
- Develop project plans and successfully execute them in accordance with established schedule, cost and performance standards.
- Develop standards for CHEP equipment by working with engineering team and equipment suppliers.
- Support the development of Capital Expenditure Authorization documents to include cost estimates and project justification.
- Manage all activities associated with capital project execution to include equipment layout and scope development, vendor selection and requests for quote, purchase order generation, contractor selection, on-site supervision during the installation and start-up of equipment, and proper tagging and accounting of new equipment.
- Ensure that all necessary safe work practices are adhered to by both CHEP and contractor personnel.
- Ensure that all necessary construction and environmental permits are obtained prior to work beginning.
- Track and report progress as required against project deliverables.
- Coordinate training of on-site personnel as needed for system operation and maintenance.
- Ensure proper handoff of completed projects to include as-built drawings, maintenance and operations manuals, and spare parts lists.
- Design and Design review.
- Financial forecasting and reporting for all the assigned projects.
- Support maintenance team and plant operation in emergency breakdowns.
- Support and response to assigned engineering requests.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Post Graduate qualifications in related areas (desirable).
- Project Management Professional.
- Professional Engineer Ontario (desirable).
Experience
- 7 to 10 years of project engineering and / or related project management experience.
- Minimum 7 years of experience working as an engineer in an operations / manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated process improvement experience.
- Design complex electrical control and power systems.
- Highly experienced in robotic and vision systems.
- Rockwell and Allen Bradley PLC controls and programming.
Skills and Knowledge
- Knowledgeable in the utilization of material handling and related light industrial equipment.
- Excellent in controls design and troubleshooting.
- Ability to plan, schedule, and manage electrical projects from inception to completion.
- Skills in managing project budgets and ensuring cost-effective solutions.
- Knowledgeable in complex industrial electrical wiring, process piping, and machine guarding and safety principals.
- Understand the concepts of finance for project management and developing business cases.
- Skilled in the use of one or more CAD software packages such as AutoCAD.
- Good verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to handle complexity.
- Analytical skills to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently.
- Ability to work across cultures and manage multiple stakeholders.
